'Twilight' Star Not Playing KURT COBAIN, Says COURTNEY LOVE's Manager
April 12, 2010The Pulse of Radio reports that the manager of Courtney Love, widow of NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain, shot down a widely circulated report on Friday (April 9) that "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson would play Cobain in a film about the rocker's life that Love is executive producing. Love's manager, Jonathan Daniel, told Spin.com, "That's an amazing story, and the first I've heard of any of this. They manage to fit pretty much everyone in Hollywood into an article without one fact check . . . "
The article, which originated in notoriously unreliable U.K. tabloid The Sun, also stated that Love wanted "Iron Man 2" star Scarlett Johansson to play her. Daniel hinted that wasn't entirely out of the question, saying, "Courtney likes Scarlett Johansson as an actress and as a person, so it wouldn't surprise me if she wanted her to play her. I'm not sure she knows who RPattz is, but he sure is cute."
A Cobain biopic is in the works at Universal Pictures, tentatively titled "Heavier Than Heaven" and not "All Apologies" as The Sun reported. Oren Moverman, who wrote and directed last year's "The Messenger", has been attached to possibly write and direct.
Love is preparing for the release of "Nobody's Daughter", the first album from her band HOLE in 12 years, later this month. The band will play in Los Angeles on April 22 and April 23 and New York on April 27 and April 28.
The 16th anniversary of Cobain's death was last Tuesday (April 6). The singer and guitarist shot himself in his Seattle home, with his body discovered two days later on April 8.
